Course description
While not aiming to turn plumbers, gasfitters and heating engineers into electricians, this short course will give them the necessary skills and knowledge to maintain and repair modern gas appliances.
This BPEC Electricity for Plumbers course provides a basic knowledge of electrical installation, circuits and fault finding and covers:
- The basics of electricity
- Domestic house wiring
- Central heating control systems
- Fault finding
- Central heating appliance components
- Safe isolation
As this course is categorised as part-time commercial training, it is not eligible for any fee waiver or funding via the College. The student is liable for the payment of fees, unless an external training grant or employer support is confirmed at time of booking.
Entry requirements
Candidates MUST have one of the following:
- A formal qualification such as SVQ Level 3 heating engineering or plumbing or electrical trades;
- Evidence of undertaking a course in heating engineering or plumbing which will lead to a formal qualification such as SVQ Level 3 heating and ventilation or plumbing or;
- Experience in either conventional heating engineering or plumbing (supporting evidience required);
*Verification must be provided prior to booking and brought to the training for submission in the assessment pack.
