Course description
This programme combines the NC Welding and Fabrication with the SVQ Performing Engineering Operations SCQF 5 (Fabrication and Welding Route). These qualifications satisfy the foundation training for a modern apprenticeship in fabrication and welding engineering.
- Practical skills in welding processes such as MMA, MIG, TIG NDT
- Fabrication plate work and thermal cutting
- Interpreting specifications, drawings and plans
- Health and safety
- Engineering, maths and information technology
- You will also develop your core, employability, enterprise and citizenship skills.
On successful completion of the course, you will gain an SQA National Certificate in Fabrication and Welding Engineering and an EAL Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) in Performing Engineering Operations at SCQF 5.

- Successful completion of this course can be used to help you secure employment as a second year apprentice, as the course provides you with the necessary qualifications that satisfy the foundation training for the Modern Apprenticeship in Fabrication and Welding Engineering.
- NC Engineering Systems: Mechanical production and maintenance engineering or electrical, control and instrumentation installation and maintenance engineering.
