Rail, Data and Digital Careers: Your Future Starts Here: Year Group S4-S6

The department of transport invites S4–S6 students to take on The Journey to Your Future: Can Rail Get You There – On Time, On Budget, On Track? In this free virtual career challenge, students will use real-world rail data to explore journey options, weigh up different priorities and recommend the best route. Students will: • Join a live 45-minute briefing and meet transport professionals • Work independently or with a friend to complete the career challenge • Work towards a 10-day submission deadline, developing valuable time-management skills • Analyse data and balance factors such as journey time, cost and convenience • Build essential problem-solving, data literacy and presentation skills • Discover the variety of careers available across rail, transport, data and digital • Receive a certificate on completion The challenge brings careers learning to life by putting students in a real-world decision-making scenario. They’ll experience how data can be used to compare options, make informed recommendations and solve problems, while building confidence and essential workplace skills. Delivered entirely online, the challenge can be completed from anywhere. Following the live industry briefing, students have 10 days to investigate the challenge, develop their recommendation and submit their work.
